INTRODUCTION
The national elections in India last held in April-May 2014 witnessed historic voter turnout of 66.44%. Around
554 million voted in 2014 out of the 834 million who were registered as electors. This was a whopping increase
in turnout over the previous national election in 2009 when India recorded a turnout of 58.19%. Again Lok
Sabha Elections are on the way, and it is being known as “India ka sabse bada tyohar" and excitement is all
around. We at Desh Apnayen envisioned to make this election the highest voting and responsible voting through
efforts of our young ACTIZENs.
Our Students cannot participate in the voting during elections, but their small-small efforts can make a big
difference. From last few years, our partner schools have initiated unique campaigns to increase the voting
percentage during elections. Like Selfie campaigns, Voting song, badges for voters, street awareness campaigns,
etc. This year, we suggest them to take one more unique step to increase the voting percentage and make
citizens aware of responsible voting in your school campus or community or society.
